Answers before you ask

What happens right after we apply?
We send you all the information straight away and ask when we can come to onboard your team.
How soon will we hear back?
We review applications as they arrive and reply by email. Spaces are limited and participation is subject to selection.
What do we send back, and when?
Within 2 weeks, your kids send us their translated magazine pages, translated robotics practicals and research papers. Then your school receives the Job Track Scholarship, and you reply within 8 weeks when your team is ready to defend.
What is in the School Pack?
A 14-page pack: the invitation letter, a magazine cover, your robotics lesson, your school’s news page, the Partnership & Participant Form, a research paper template, and the scholarship letters. See it in the toolkit above.
Who can join?
Schools in Ibadan. Our robotics lessons are written for children from about age 7, and our scholarship tracks suit secondary students. We select a limited number of partner schools.
How many students do we send?
Six student authors for each issue, plus two Reviewing Editors who check a partner school’s work.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Participation is completely free for every school. No registration fee, no mentorship fee and no hidden costs. Your school only brings a laptop and internet for sessions.
What must our school provide?
A coordinating teacher, a Yorùbá teacher, a laptop and internet for sessions, and signed parent or guardian consent for every child.
Do we need robots or kits?
No. Children build and test robots in an online lab on a laptop. Nothing real can break, and nothing needs buying.
How much time does it take?
Short sessions that your coordinating teacher schedules. Each issue follows the same rhythm: learn, build, translate, review, publish. There are two issues a month.
What if we do not have a Yorùbá teacher?
Tell us in your application so we can plan with you. You can still apply.
Is it safe for our children?
Every child needs signed parent or guardian consent before their name, work or voice is published. That includes voice recordings. Nothing is published without it.
Do you collect children’s names online?
No. Our application form collects only school and staff contact details. Children’s details go on the signed Partnership Form, with parent or guardian consent.
Where are the kids’ videos posted?
On your school’s own TikTok and YouTube pages, run by an adult at your school, with signed parent or guardian consent. We recommend switching comments off.
Why Yorùbá?
Because science should be easy to love in a child’s own language. Kids translate and voice the stories, so Yorùbá becomes a language of science. Hausa is planned next.
Who checks that the work is right?
Partner schools review each other’s translations and papers, guided by their Yorùbá teachers. A Rollascriptings mentor checks the science, and a small Yorùbá panel does a final read before anything is published.
What do the children get?
A published credit, a certificate, a place on the review board, and a path to our scholarships: Job Track, Young Visionaries and Robotics. Kids who pass the Job Track defence become official Young Beginner-Friendly Robotics Teachers.
Who decides if a kid gets the certificate?
Our PhD Team evaluates every video and decides whether each kid earns the Job Track certificate.
We could not find that. Email us your question and we will get back to you.
